The Initiative
“How Safe Is My Place?” is a fantastic initiative originally developed by Neighbourhood Watch Victoria to help individuals assess the security of their homes and properties. With their generous support and guidance, Neighbourhood Watch NT has proudly adapted the quiz to suit the unique needs and environment of the Northern Territory. This Territory-specific version provides practical, locally relevant advice to help residents improve their safety and feel more secure in their homes.
About the Quiz
In 2019 almost 30% of home break-ins in the NT occurred through an unlocked or unsecured premise. Fortunately, there are some simple steps you can take to improve your home security and reduce the opportunity for thieves.
Based on the internationally recognised, Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED) principles, How Safe Is My Place? will help you to understand your current home security levels and provide advice and practical tips to help protect yourself, your family and your property.
After you have completed the self-assessment you will be emailed a copy of your report with tips on increasing your home security and preventing opportunistic crime.
